Supreme Court Grants Trachtenberg Petition to Abolish Discriminatory Cost Bonds

Today the Supreme Court granted Petition R-13-0044, forever abolishing Rule 67 cost bonds. This Petition overrules the case of Thiele v. City of Phoenix, 232 Ariz. 40 (App. 2013), in which the Court of Appeals held these discriminatory rules to be constitutional. Now the courthouse doors will not be closed to people who do not own property and do not have a means to post a bond. The change goes into effect January 1, 2015.
